What Happened & Context

On July 30, 2026, Upbit added USDG to its spot market, marking the stablecoin’s entry into South Korea’s regulated crypto ecosystem. This listing follows a series of exchange integrations:

  • Robinhood (April 2026) – USDG available for trading on Robinhood Crypto.
  • OKX SG (June 2026) – Spot trading pair USDG/SGD listed on OKX Singapore.
  • Kraken – Listed earlier with a dedicated blog announcement.

USDG is designed to comply with the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, becoming one of the first stablecoins to achieve full MiCA compliance in July 2025. Its reserves are held at DBS Bank, one of Asia’s largest financial institutions, and the token is built on Ethereum (ERC-20) with additional deployments on Solana and Ink.

Note: Brave search snippets indicate Coinmetro plans to migrate all USDT pairs to USDG by June 2026 as part of MiCA compliance, further expanding the stablecoin’s utility.

  • Peg Stability: The token is designed to maintain a 1:1 peg, but any deviation from the peg could affect trading strategies.
  • Concentration Risk: A significant portion of trading volume is concentrated on OKX and Upbit; liquidity on smaller exchanges may be thin.
  • Smart Contract Risk: The Ethereum contract is audited by Paxos, but users should verify the official address before interacting.
